Drone and aerial photography in Tampa

Aerials show what the ground can't: the lot lines, the water, the roof, the whole site. Every flight is by an FAA-certified drone pilot who checks the airspace before booking, which matters in a region with two major airports and MacDill.

What aerials are used for

  • Waterfront and pool home listings
  • Land, acreage and lot sales
  • Construction progress and site documentation
  • Roof and property inspections for insurance or sale
  • Golf courses, marinas, campuses and commercial properties
  • Outdoor events, races and venues

What affects the price

Flying in Tampa Bay

A large share of Tampa Bay sits in controlled airspace around Tampa International, St. Pete-Clearwater, Peter O. Knight and MacDill Air Force Base. Much of South Tampa, Westshore and downtown needs FAA authorization before a legal flight, and areas close to MacDill may be off limits entirely. A certified pilot checks this at booking so you aren't surprised on the day.

Weather also matters: drones don't fly in rain or high wind, so summer flights are scheduled for mornings and sea-breeze afternoons on the coast are avoided. Waterfront listings, land along the Pasco growth corridor and construction sites in Riverview and Wesley Chapel are the most common jobs.

Common questions

Are your drone pilots licensed?

Aerial work is flown by FAA-certified drone pilots holding a Part 107 remote pilot certificate, which is what the FAA requires for any commercial flight.

Can you fly near the airport?

Often, with FAA authorization, which the pilot requests. Some zones near MacDill and the runways cannot be flown. The pilot checks your address before booking.

Can you fly in a storm or high wind?

No. Flights are rescheduled for rain, lightning or strong wind, which is why summer flights are booked for mornings.

Do you do roof inspections?

The pilot provides high-resolution images of the roof and structure. Interpreting them is up to your roofer, inspector or adjuster.
